Always come prepared when camping in wilderness areas.
Camping in the Marble Mountains can be anywhere you want to throw down a sleeping bag. The views are great, and the air is clean. There are several campsites around every lake. Fire permits are required in the wilderness and can be obtained at the Scott River District U.S. Forest Service office in Fort Jones (during office hours), or at the CDF office in Fort Jones (most early evenings). In the mountains, you should always have a coat or rain gear with you, summer thunder storms can come upon you quickly. The evenings can get cool at the higher elevations.
